Testimonials
Mrs Thomson has worked with my son for 3 years. He struggles to concentrate in class and she has helped him greatly with his reading. She helped to build his confidence. We are very grateful for what she did for ‘L’.
I work with Mrs Thomson. She teaches me to read and write. I love going to her lessons. She is kind to me and sometimes funny. She helps me a LOT!!!! by ‘A’
My daughter ‘s language difficulties caused her English schoolwork to be affected. She was failing and had a very negative opinion of herself. Mrs Thomson spent a lot of time helping her to get better at spelling and reading. She was always happy to go to the lessons because they were fun and Mrs Thomson was nice. from ‘S’ mum

A good foundation in phonics
Phonics is the understanding of how our spoken sounds (phonemes) can be represented by written letters (graphemes). It connects phonological awareness—the ability to hear and work with spoken words, word parts, and individual sounds—into our written language. Basically, a good grasp of phonics will help students understand the relationship between sounds and letters, allowing them to read and write words. It’s a crucial foundation for literacy development.
As students master the ability to decode new words in early primary school, they can switch from ‘learning to read’ to ‘reading to learn’.
